Hi, I'm Melissa!
WHERE I COME FROM
Growing up, I was raised in a family that valued hard work and perseverance. My father, a dedicated union worker for the "Big 3", and my stay-at-home mother worked tirelessly to ensure that I had everything I needed to succeed. When I reached middle school, my mother followed her passion and became an educator, working as a special education paraprofessional at Livonia Public Schools. My parents, who have been together for 45 years and also live in Westland, instilled in me the importance of fighting for what is right and advocating for those who need support. This became particularly important to me as I watched my parents fight for activism for my low-functioning autistic brother. Today, as a Councilwoman, I continue to draw on these experiences and values to fight for the people of our community and work towards a brighter future for all.
A THRIVING CAREER
As an alumnus of Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Communications, and a graduate of the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts with a focus on both Electronic Media and Film, I have had the opportunity to explore my passion for communication and media.
My career has afforded me the privilege of working with some amazing individuals, teams, and organizations. For over 15 years, I have served in leadership roles as a consultant across various industries, from non-profit to sports marketing.
My primary focus has always been on entrepreneurs and healthcare companies, two fields that are particularly close to my heart. As a dedicated professional, I am committed to driving success for my clients and bringing out the best in their businesses.
